5 Versions of Prayer: Forgive Me, Oh Lord. Bible Verses Included.
“If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude ourselves and the truth is not in us.” The words you just read are from 1 John 1:8.
Isn’t it a relief to know that God never gets tired of us coming to Him and asking for forgiveness?!
We all repeatedly transgress, so it’s no surprise that we constantly need to talk to God, agree with Him that we have sinned, and request mercy.
As 1 John 1:9 says, “God will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness if we confess our sins.”
Below are 5 different versions of Prayer: Forgive Me, Oh Lord, for you to use as a guide in your conversation with God.
- Compassionate Father,
You are so kind, and You delight to show mercy.
I praise You for Your incredible grace!
You know everything, and nothing can be hidden from You.
Forgive me, oh Lord, for all of my wrongdoings.
There are many, but Your love is so much greater.
Thank You for always being with me
And for Your promise not to remember my sins.
Amen
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:11-12 - Gracious Lord,
In the spirit of the riches of Your grace,
I have the forgiveness of sins.
I choose to turn to You now and confess
Because I know You will have mercy on me.
Even though I have rebelled against You,
You never stop being merciful and forgiving.
Thank You, Lord, that you don’t keep track of my sins.
In Your Son’s Sacred Name,
Amen
The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against Him. Daniel 9:9 - Powerful Savior,
You are patient, kind, and slow to anger.
I am so grateful that I can always
Find mercy from You by admitting my sins.
I ask You now for Your forgiveness.
Lord, please help me to show kindness
And compassion towards others so that I can
Forgive them just as You always forgive me.
Thank You for Your never-ending mercy.
Amen
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. Ephesians 1:7 - Divine Redeemer,
Love is from You, and You are faithful.
I choose not to try to cover up my sin,
For I know that would be foolish.
I acknowledge my wrongdoings to you now
Because I know that You are full of compassion.
Though my sins are like scarlet,
You make them as white as snow.
Blessed be Your name forever and ever!
Amen
Then He adds: Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more. Hebrews 10:17 - Father of Mercies,
You are The One who blots out my sins
For Your own sake and remembers my sins no more.
I am so incredibly thankful for this, Lord!
You are so good to me though I don’t deserve it.
Please help me to always forgive others
Or You will not forgive me my sins.
I place all of my trust in You
And lift Your name up on high.
Amen
