Prayers for Uvalde

The people of Uvalde, Texas suffered a terrible tragedy when an elementary school shooting occurred that took the lives of 21 precious human beings. Below are several Prayers for Uvalde – one for Comfort, one for Strength, and one for Peace.

Prayer for Comfort

Holy Father,

We come to You completely heartbroken.

The unspeakable has happened, & we cannot make sense of it.

You are the Father of Compassion & the God of all comfort,

Our Helper, & You are near to all who call on You.

You’ve promised to never leave or forsake us.

We know that death cannot separate us from Your love.

May Your unfailing love be our comfort.

One day, You will wipe every tear from our eyes,

And there will be no more death, mourning, crying or pain.

We pray that your Great Love & Peace be with the people of Uvalde, Texas.

All this we pray in Jesus’ precious name,

Prayer for Strength

Heavenly God,

We are in a moment of profound sorrow.

We come to You at this time because we know that

You are a stronghold in times of trouble.

We come to You in the midst of this tragedy.

We know that You have promised to strengthen us,

To help us, to uphold us with Your righteous right hand.

Please help us to not fear, for You are with us wherever we go.

Please help us to be strong & courageous.

We find in You our refuge & strength.

We pray this trusting & believing in You,

Amen

Prayer for Peace

God Most High,

The unthinkable has happened, & we come to you needing peace.

Your peace transcends all understanding,

It guards our hearts & minds in Christ Jesus.

Please help us not be troubled or afraid.

We know that we can turn all our worries over to You

Because You care for us.

Please help us trust in You

And not depend on our own understanding.

With You, all thing are possible.

We pray this believing we have received Your peace.
