5 Short versions of Prayer of Gratitude: Thank You, God. Use these beautiful words to guide your grateful talk with the Lord.
So Many Blessings
There are so many gifts in our lives that can cause us to want to say a prayer of gratitude (thank you, God).
God pours out abundant blessings on each of us, and the greatest of these is Jesus Christ. We have the precious gifts of forgiveness and eternal life because of Him.
A decision we get to make is whether we are going to focus on the many blessings in our lives (who God is and all He has done for us) or on our problems. Things always look better when we focus on God.
We may not always feel thankful, so it takes intention to look for blessings and focus on them.
This brings to mind the song called “Blessings in Disguise” by Laura Story (you can watch the lyric video here: YouTube). It is very likely that things that we naturally view as negative are blessings in disguise!
In scripture, we are told to give thanks in all situations. God is always in control! It’s beneficial to stop and reflect on just how many things we take for granted.
Did we wake up this morning? Were we able to get dressed by ourselves? Can we breathe on our own? Are we healthy? Do we have food to eat? Do we have a warm place to stay? This kind of list could go on and on…
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
A Heart that is Grateful
The way we think and feel changes when being grateful is a habit. It can be helpful to have a Gratitude Journal or to write out a Thank You list to God.
Actually writing words on paper activates regions in the brain, which is excellent for a person’s memory and helps us focus on the really important things. It can also be therapeutic.
Take the time to think about the many wonderful things God has placed in your life, and it will change your whole point-of-view!
It is my prayer that the words below are a blessing to you, that they help express your gratitude. Use any of them as a guide for your conversation with God.
Prayers of Gratitude: Thank You, God
- Compassionate Father,
You are full of mercy and grace,
And You are the giver of good things.

And I thank You for Your goodness and grace.
Amen

And continue to do for me, it is overwhelming.
The fact that You, the Ruler of the Universe,
Are mindful of me is such an incredible gift!
May Your name be blessed always.
Amen
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 - Merciful God,
You are good, and Your lovingkindness is everlasting,
I am so thankful that You are generous and forgiving.
Because of who You are and what Jesus did at the cross,
I am able to look forward to an eternal life in heaven.
You chose to give me what I don’t deserve, and gratitude fills my heart.
Thank You for Your promise to always be by my side.
Amen
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 - Everlasting Lord,
